Situated in the Southern French Alps and bordering the Park National des Ecrins and Italy, the Serre Chevalier Valley has long been a favourite with British Skiers of all ability levels. The area boasts both an impressive snow record as well as over 300 days a year of sunshire. The main town of Briancon is a medieval city with numerous buildings of historical interest including its Medieval fortress.

Serre Chevalier has an extensive infrastructure of 62 ski lifts serving over 100 runs and 250km of varied piste with an altitude range of 1200 to 2800 metres.

The Serre Chevalier valley runs from Briancon in the south up to Lauteret at the head of the valley and features several authentic French villages as well as modern ski stations.

THE SKIING
The resort is a safe choice for beginners with each village offering a range of nursery slopes with an easy progression to the next level such as the Grande Alpe at the top of the gondola above the village of Chantemerle.

The area is a paradise for intermediate skiers with long winding runs amongst glorious scenery, including the Le Petit Alpe, Bois des Coqs and Grande Gargouille above Monetier  or the long fantastic Cucumelle run winding its way back to Villeneuve from Bachas.

For experts there are a number of black runs and off piste areas throughout the whole area including the famous Luc Alphand Olympic Black run.
